S1E5: The Career Episode

Show notes

Some people know exactly who they are and what they want to be from the moment they start making study and job decisions. Others are not that lucky. Most people have no idea what they want to be or in which direction they wish their careers to expand.

It can be hard to choose the right career path when there are so many different options, especially when so many other options can give you great satisfaction and success.

According to The World Bank Group, agriculture is four times more effective in reducing poverty than any other working sector worldwide. However, very few youths are embracing agriculture as a career option since farming isn't considered cool by most of them. They find most of the management jobs easier than farming.

However, many youths think Agriculture is just the producer level but neglect opportunities in post-production and services (like marketing, transport, etc.) that have many career growth and development opportunities.

Mr. Joseph Mutuku – a Senior lecturer and career guide at Bukura Agricultural College, will give us pointers on why it's essential to choose a career in agriculture.
